They are very important, and every student should have them at his fingertips.Ion is a universal element. No matter where you go, you will find these two elements. Although it is used for most of the science, science is also a big industry nowadays, where the chemicals and the drugs are made from different kinds of minerals and some are made from matter as well. Not all of the minerals come from nature, and some of them are manufactured by man as well.Other than science, it is also the basis of the theories used in biology and medicine. This means that it is the connection between cells, atoms, molecules, and the energies that they have. An individual who studies and researches chemistry would definitely know what an ion is.Chemistry requires it, since it is a science. For this reason, they always offer ion in chemistry as a requirement for the students to understand the subject. If you study with an exact definition, then you will be more prepared for your chemistry classes. Advantages Disadvantages of a Fretless Guitar
Advantages Disadvantages of a Fretless Guitar Shanika Fretless instruments are not uncommon in the world of music, however, a fretless guitar is an instrument that isnt often mentioned. The fretless guitar lacks the frets that one would traditionally see on a guitar. This means that there is no interruption in the string from the bridge, up the neck of the guitar. The lack of frets create an entirely unique, warm, but less amplified sound that works across all types of music. In order to truly understand what a fretless guitar is, it is first important to understand the purpose of the fret. The fret segments the neck of the guitar into multiple sections. The frets serve as the tension point to alter the sound of the guitar. The fretted guitar adheres to the Western standard of semitones. They also serve as a guide for musicians. Unfretted guitars, while uncommon, are incredibly rewarding instruments to learn to play. With that being said, these fretless instruments have specific advantages, disadvantages and tricks that must be considered before heading out and picking one up. Advantages The fretless guitars greatest advantage is the range of sound it can produce. Without frets to space the strings, the guitar is capable of producing sounds outside of the Western music scale. Fretted guitars, while traditional and beautiful in their own respect, have limitations imposed upon them by the frets. The freedom of a fretless guitar is especially useful for those who are interested in Eastern music and more exotic sounds that are difficult to reproduce on a traditional guitar. The fretless guitar also offers players a chance to truly perfect their craft as the removal of frets force students to rely on their own skill, technique and ear while playing. It also offers players a fluidity and a truly unique sound. Slide guitar, a method of guitar playing that relies on a cylinder slide across the strings, produces the same fretless sound. This sound is warmer and more fluid, with almost no stop between pitches, which creates a truly full and aesthetically-pleasing sound. Learning to play fretless guitar is an incredibly rewarding endeavor and something of particular interest to many who have mastered the traditional guitar. Fretless instruments add a new layer of difficulty, along with greater freedom of sound, that many avid musicians enjoy immensely. Disadvantages While the fretless guitar offers musicians more flexibility and a wider range of potential musical options, there are also disadvantages to consider. The fretless guitar following remains relatively small, and much of its underground popularity is rooted in the difficulty that accompanies the instrument. Fretless guitars are difficult to come by and difficult to truly master. The fretless guitar, because it lacks the typical guidance of a fret, requires a great deal of training to truly master. Ear training is required for all players to denote the differences in sound between the notes. While this can be accomplished with the correct instruction and practice by any guitar player, it is not a particularly easy skill to master and leaves some students feeling frustrated. Additionally, it should be noted that the fretless guitar is far less common than the traditional, fretted guitar, and few outfitters ship fretless versions of their more popular items. While the fretless bass has gained popularity and many outfitters ship them as part of their normal inventory, this simply is not the case with fretless guitars. In many cases, a consumer must purchase a fretted guitar and have a luthier remove the frets. There is a small grouping of luthiers who specialize in fretless guitars, but they come at a premium. Tips and Tricks When buying a fretless guitar, you can request that the luthier make markings were the fret would normally be. These painted (or notched) frets allow users to employ the marking as a guide while they learn unfretted techniques. As your skill progresses, markings can be removed, or a new neck can be used. Instead of bending strings to achieve sounds, the fretless guitar enables easier slide mechanisms. Avoid bending strings as it can damage the fretboard. Instead, focus on learning slide techniques. Before heading into the world with a fretless instrument, it is important to train the ear and fingers to play on an unfretted guitar. Intonation exercises and pitch exercises are necessary. While fretless instruments allow for more fluidity they also allow for users to make bigger mistakes that are more noticeable. Photo by alikins Interested in Private Lessons? English Listening Resource Whats happening to the US economy
English Listening Resource Whats happening to the US economy Lately, almost all of my English students have been asking me what is happening with the U.S. economy. Why is the stock market going crazy? What is a debt ceiling? How bad is the U.S. economy? Whos fault is it?National Public Radio (NPR) is the United States equivalent, more or less, to the BBC. It has many great free podcasts you can download, with transcripts, including Planet Money. Planet Money is a specific podcast that focuses on economic issues. These issues can often be boring, especially if theyre not being discussed in your native language, but here is Planet Moneys mission:We have two rules for ourselves: 1. Everything has to be interesting (and, preferably, fun or funny or poignant or somehow grabby). 2. Everything should be economically smart, but not economically dull.Basically, they try to make economic news interesting to the average person, even people who dont speak English as their first language. The show started a few years ago when NPR reporter Adam Davidson and This American Life producer Alex Blumberg teamed up to create a This American Life report called The Giant Pool of Money in 2008. This report became very popular, and won important awards for clearly explaining the economic crises faced by the U.S. at that time. After The Giant Pool of Money NPR decided to keep Davidson and Blumberg together, and formed Planet Money, which continues to explain the U.S. economy in funny and interesting ways. If you want a clear, understandable explanation of whats happening with economic issues in the U.S., this is a good place to start. Click here to visit their home page.If you would like to take an English class based on an episode of Planet Money, contact us.

Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a Career
Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a Career photo via pexels.com Sure, changing majors might put you a bit behind on your academic plan, but getting a degree in the field you want is so much more important than having to stay in school a little longer. Of course, theres always going to be the recommendation that you dont change your major after your sophomore year. Really, the first two years of college are dedicated to earning your General Education credits so this is the time for you to explore different areas of your education (math, science, humanities, and language). So by the time you enter your junior year, you shouldve found your little niche and settled on a major you enjoy. But if youre settling on engineering, there are tons of pre-requisites in math and physics that youll need so its best to start on those early. Whats important to remember in this season of life is that the major you choose in college doesnt pigeon-hole you into the career you have to have for the rest of your life. Just because you have a psychology degree doesnt mean you have to be a psychologist (trust me, I would know). A degree in art history probably isnt going to get you anywhere, but if thats what you love, have at it. What it is important to think about while youre choosing a career is what degree is going to give you the most options in the field that you love. A degree in math will open up your options infinitely as opposed to a library sciences degree. Think about the money youre paying and the options youll have once youve graduated. Here are some questions you should ask yourself when it comes to thinking about a career youll enjoy and what you should major in during your college years: photo via Pexels.com 1. What types of activities and topics interest me? If you dont have an interest in medicine and blood, dont decide on a career as a doctor because they make a lot of money. Your first mistake in choosing a career will come when you decide on something because of the financial payoffs that you think it will entail. Reflect on the kinds of things you actually enjoy doing and go from there. If youre not into nursing people back to health, dont get a CNA certification. If youre having trouble finding things that interest you, take some classes in some departments youve never considered before. 2. What kind of lifestyle do I need in order to be happy? When it comes to choosing a career, people often think about the financial benefits first and foremost. This can turn your life into a total disaster. Before you know it youll be thirty and depressed because you hate getting up and going to work every day. Think about what kind of lifestyle you need in order to be happy. Do you need to make six figures? If you do, then Id suggest factoring income into your career decision. But if you can make it work on a tight budget (notice I didnt say starving or homeless), then investigate the things you might have overlooked because youre afraid youll be poor for the rest of your life. Theres a happy medium between making the income you need to be happy and making the income youre greedy for. Sure, everyone wants to have more money than they know what to do with. But its a lot worse to feel locked into a job because of the financial benefits than it is to skimp on going out to dinner and getting to wake up and do something you love every day. Choosing a career is no easy task. Please listen when I tell you that the career you choose at 20 probably wont be your career at 60. You have time to change jobs and career paths. But giving yourself more options up front will pay off later on. I promise.

Why Students Should Use a Tutor For Linear Algebra and Matlab
Why Students Should Use a Tutor For Linear Algebra and MatlabA tutor for linear algebra and matlab will be helpful to those who are studying mathematics in the first place. It will help students sharpen their skills and work together with math tutors who can also help them find the math classes they want. A tutor will help to get students through the courses that are difficult, and students will benefit from the guidance. There are lots of reasons why students should use a tutor for linear algebra and matlab. The first reason is that it can help students with their homework assignments, which is something that helps them stay on track with their studies. If they are on the right track, then they will find it easier to continue on to the next level of their studies. The second reason is that they can use it to meet a friend who is doing calculus, which can help them feel like they have a friend that is also studying for calculus. Math tutors will also help them keep track of their progr ess, since they need to do so to give them feedback. However, it can be important for students to use a tutor for math before their parents know they are doing well, because some parents might try to discipline them by giving them a harsher learning schedule.Students who are working in groups also need a tutor. Group study is a time-consuming exercise but using a tutor will make it easier for students to concentrate on math, without having to worry about their group leader's reaction. If they do not know when the group leader is going to call them to come to the front of the room for class, they might worry about doing well.Students who have trouble with a piece of math will need a tutor for matlab, because the tutor can give them help in doing a certain problem. They might be having problems with a test, and if they get assistance from the tutor, then they can continue with the testing even ifthey have a hard time with it. Another good thing about tutoring is that it is done over t he internet, which makes it easy for people to communicate with one another over the internet. The process of having a tutor for matlab and linear algebra may take a while. However, once they are there, they will know how to work with the tutor. In fact, one of the benefits of having a tutor is that it can take the student out of the group learning environment, which is good because it is good for the students' self-esteem. For instance, if the students want to do something different, but they are all in the same circle, then that can cause anxiety, which can actually make the students feel worse than they already were.Students should consider having a tutor for matlab and linear algebra if they want to improve their skills and increase their GPA. Then, they will not only feel better about themselves, but they will also be more likely to perform well at school.
